2,5 years ago Google has taken over Keyhole and their software Google Earth released. With this release the world has got a new toy for exploring the whole world and phenomena related with the earths surface and beyond. The euphoria in the beginning was amazing and the trend still goes on. For a lot of users its a starndard application which must not miss on their machine. Until now 350 million downloads are counted.
One reason for the sucess of Google Earth is that it combines information with gaming and it never gets boring. Every time new content, different locations and the community entries, geotagged photos make Google Earth fascinating for many people.
