Tomorrow the GIForum starts and the day after tomorrow AGIT 2008 begins. I will submit a poster presentation with the topic “Scenario Visualisation and Comparison for Spatial Decision Support” as coauthor. You can see the poster below.

Click on the image to get a larger view. I’ll try to post some articles during the AGIT.

About four days ago (21.06.2008) ESRI joined Youtube with a profile. At esritv they want to publish official ESRI company videos. Here you can see one video which gives an introduction about ArcGIS Server.

For sure the videos are commercially oriented and sometimes structured like an advertiment but it also contain some useful information how to use ESRI systems.

Geogames is an event with the objective to apply Geoinformation playfully. The pupils should learn to use GIS to solve tasks of everyday’s life. Four different station with topics about Geography, GIS, etc. give an insight where these technologies are used. Students from the Carinthian University of Applied Sciences (CUAS) support pupils in their tasks and at each station.

The event is organized by the CUAS and the federal state government of Carinthia.

On the homepage the pupils will see their walking routes as GPS tracks.

When: 25.06.2008, 8:30 a.m

Where: FH Kärnten | Europastraße 4 | A-9524 Villach/St. Magdalen

There are some audio and video podcasts with the topic GIS available at iTunes. If you want to subscribe some Podcasts go to iTunes and search for GIS. Then you get some Podcasts from Universities or GIS companies. I listed some of these:

Einführung in die Geoinformatik (german):

From: Antonio Krüger, Uni Münster

Spatial Thoughts GIS Podcast (english):

From: suchi

Spatial Thoughts GIS Podcast is the first and only podcast focusing on GIS and Remote Sensing happenings in and around India. It is our effort to bring you the most relevant and interesting stori es of the region in an enjoyable form. It is your chance to catch up with the industry buzz every week. As mentioned in this post, Intergraph is trying to merge the functionality of their public safety CAD (computer aided dispatch), their G/Technology suite (used for utility and communication networks), and the GeoMedia platform.

It could be that:

  • GeoMedia Public Works Manager
  • GeoMedia Transaction Manager

will not be enhanced any more, because their funcionality will be covered somewhere else (e.g G!NIUS). A rough date for this integration is not available.

One further news: Intergraph released a press release (June 4) announcing their support for Microsoft’s SQL Server 2008 spatial enhancements.
