Lenovo has introduced recently new notebooks of the ThinkPad series. For example there is the T400 and T500 series. This 14.1″/15.4″ notebooks are based on Intels new Centrino 2 platform. There is also the ThinkPad W700, a 17″ Centrino 2 notebook.

The basis configuration include a Core2Duo T9400, 2 GB RAM, a Nvidia Quadro FX-2700 512 MB and 160 GB HDD. For additional 225 USD you can get a WUXGA display with a resolution of 1.920 x 1.080 and 400 Candela brightness. The notebook can be bought for ca.  2.950 Dollar.

An interesting feature is built-in Wacom digitizer. Designed for professional use in industries such as graphic design, photography and CAD, the digital tablet lets you manipulate images in programs like Photoshop without any extra gear.

A test with a GIS software would be interesting to see if this digitizer is suitable for digitizing geographic features. In my opinion this could be an alternative to on-screen digitizing with a mouse. Does anyone has some experiences?
